The USC Social Innovation Symposium showcases student projects at the intersection of public health leadership, management, and social entrepreneurship. Fellows operationalize their passions by developing fundable think tanks aimed at some of the world’s most urgent challenges—from voting as a structural determinant of health to climate justice and prison abolition.
As part of an inclusive learning ecosystem, the Symposium provides students, especially early-career scholars and those from historically marginalized or socially under-resourced communities, with the opportunity to transform ideas into tangible outputs. These projects strengthen portfolios with demonstrable products—presentations, proposals, and organizational models—that signal both creativity and leadership to future employers. The Symposium thus advances not only intellectual rigor but also the cultivation of diverse public health leadership for systemic change.
