The AI Ethics, Planetary Justice, and Public Health Systems project investigates how artificial intelligence is being integrated into public health infrastructure — in research, education, policy, and practice. We approach this integration not only as a technical development but as an ethical and planetary justice issue, with profound implications for equity and governance.
The first stage of this work focuses on education. Deploying critical theory, critique of neoliberalism, and coloniality of knowledge frameworks, we analyze the ethics and metaphysical dimensions of using AI in teaching and learning contexts, asking what it means for public health training when machines and humans are entangled in knowledge production. This inquiry sets the foundation for broader policy and practice questions: how to responsibly incorporate AI into health systems without deepening inequities or undermining public trust — or killing the planet.
